Alumni Advancement Board

The mission of the Space Camp®/Aviation Challenge® Alumni Advancement Board ('AAB') is to support the mission and vision of the U.S. Space & Rocket Center Foundation, to participate in outreach, development, and fundraising endeavors to support the projects and mission of the U.S. Space & Rocket Center- while also serving as stewards to the alumni community of graduates from Space Camp, Aviation Challenge and related programs. The AAB is the anchor organization for the 'Space Camp Alumni Association' - identified on the web and social media as 'SpaceCampAlumni'.

In late 2013, a small steering committee of Space Camp and Aviation Challenge program alumni, along with U.S. Space & Rocket Center staff set out on a mission to reengage the 650,000+ alumni across the 32-year history of Space Camp programs to form a group whose primary focus is to provide a clearinghouse for those alumni to connect and also be afforded the opportunity to contribute to the institution that provided inspiration and motivation in their lives and careers.

After its creation, the steering committee conducted an international search for motivated alumni to serve on the AAB. The search concluded in early 2014 with the selection of ten (10) board members. In addition to these members, the U.S. Space & Rocket Center and the Space Camp Hall of Fame are represented by ex officio members on the AAB.

Already this group has had significant impact in a myriad of areas including a major fundraising campaign, hands-on aircraft restoration activities, volunteer staffing for large on- and off- site events, and participation in the annual Alumni Weekend - featuring the Space Camp Hall of Fame induction cemerony. 2015 promises to be the most impressive year yet of alumni involvement and volunteerism - and the AAB is seeking capable and motivated alumni to be a part of it!
